Everyone knows that Austin, TX is a rapidly developing area. Each day roughly 157 new residents arrive in the capital city. With this population boom there has been plenty of construction and growth in downtown Austin. These are some of the biggest new buildings joining the iconic Austin Skyline in the next decade.
Known as “the Jenga building” to locals the independent is a new 58 story residential building headed for the southwest corner of downtown Austin. The Independent will feature 370 luxury condominiums.
This project is expected to be completed in Spring 2018 at 301 West Ave.
70 Rainey Street
Rising up from the heart of the Rainey Street District, with its design influenced by its beautiful and vibrant surroundings, 70 Rainey is the perfect reflection of the essence of Austin. Its street level is consistent with the distinct Rainey Street District, bringing the sought after elements and appealing character of the neighborhood into the building with meticulous attention to lighting, materials and design. Connect with nature and unwind as you walk past, looking up at the wood façade covered with vertical gardens.
The project is expected to be complete in Fall 2017.
New Commercial Spaces
Third + Shoal
Third + Shoal is a modern and stylish new office building being built in southwest downtown Austin. Part of the project will be revitalizing the area around Shoal Creek with new parks, bridges, and restaurants. This 29-story, 345,000 SF Class AA office building brings everything you love about Austin to your front door and is a great addition to the Austin Skyline.
3rd + Shoal is replacing the Austin Music Hall at 3rd St. and Nueces St. and will be complete Winter 2017.
The Fairmont Hotel
A brand new 37 story convention hotel is going in on the East side of downtown Austin near the convention center. The Fairmont will include 1,068 units and tons of amenities to it’s guests including unique views, six restaurants, seasonally heated swimming pool on the 7th floor, full-service salon and spa, and 128,500 square feet of meeting space.
Reservations begin in January 2017 expected to open June 2017.
